White IPA is an evolution of a classic style, where a traditional recipe is infused with local ingredients and flavours. The result is an elusive, complex experience. Being a hybrid beer, it has both a Belgian wit and an American hoppy citrus/pine resin flavor profile.
Production: hazy, light color (5-7 SRM), medium alcohol (5.5-7.0%), IBU: 40-70.
Low to medium spiciness (coriander, pepper) in the aroma, derived from the yeast. Hop aromas are citrusy, tropical fruit, but restrained, not overpowering the wit style and somehow asserting themselves differently than in IPAs.
Low-quality ingredients: pilsner malt, wheat malt, wheat flakes, unmalted wheat. Spicy-fruity estery phenolic yeast, higher alcohol content. New World hops: American, Australian, New Zealand hops, higher bitterness. The style has been registered since about 2010. In the BJCP system, it is in the Special IPA category.
A pleasant, refreshing drink for all seasons, especially summer.
Alcohol: 6,5%
IBU: 48
